雪の思い出
昨夜のパーティから帰ってぐっすり眠った今日の朝、カーテンを開けると窓から雪がちらほら散ってる風景が見えた。一枚いちまいが花びらのようにふわふわとして可憐に降っている。ちょっと降ってやんでしまったが、雪国で数年間暮らした思い出があまりにも良くて、寒い地がほんのり好きになっている。
-20℃くらいになる地に暮らし始めたときは、5分外に立っていたら死んでしまう！と本気で思った。しかし、それも数年後にはまったく感じなくなった。クリスマス時には、雪の中を家々を回りキャロルを歌った。終わった後は、数人のメンバーが家の中に暖かい飲み物や食べ物を準備してくれ、そこで会話とともの温まった。寒くて白い雪の中に建つ、暖かい光あふれる家、そこにいる人々。暖かい思い出。
しばらく自転車で学校に通っていたが、とうとう友人から車を譲り受けてからは行動範囲が広がった。スバルは雪の路上に強いと評判の車で、20年落ちだったがしっかり走ってくれ、不安を感じることはなかった。それがフォードに買い替えてからは、雪道でスリップすること数回、まったくケガは事故はなかったものの、ちょっと条件が変われば命もなかったのではないかという経験もあった。
雪を眺めながらそんな思い出に浸り…また雪国で暮らしてもいいかなあと、海好きの私は思うのだった。

Memories With Snow
When I woke up this morning, it was slightly snowing in the window. Every snow fall was like a petal - flattering in the air. It was pretty and made me recall the memories that I had spent the snowy place in USA for several years.
When I arrived there and experienced some degrees below zero, I thought that I might have been dead if I were outside for five minutes. It was the snowy night after finishing practicing hymns at a church choir. However, after it had passed for several years, it was no problem in standing the snow weather. I rode a bike on the snow for commuting school.
I made plenty of nice memories in the snow weather there. The first snow fall appeared in October in some years. It surprised me. As I had joined a choir at church in the town, I joined the Christmas choir singing around houses in the Christmas season every year. After going and singing in our community, some members prepared us for worm drink and meals. The house was lighted up brightly and we enjoyed eating and having conversations as we were warmed up by the heat.
After I used a bike for commuting, finally I got a car and drove in the snow. Subaru that I purchased by my friend was good at the snowy road; therefore, I had never worried about danger in the weather. However, once I changed my car from Subaru to Ford, I was in slipping on the snowy road twice. I was not injured in the both ones and didn't feel fear at all at the moment but it might have killed me if some conditions were set. Thank God, I have been safe!
I went skiing with my friend in the mountains where is famous for skiers. It was amazing experiences because once we started going down the hill, it could last at least for 20 minutes without any stops! It hardly occurs in Japan... We enjoying becoming birds in the air!
No hesitation if I have to live in the snow country. Of course snow shoveling makes me tired to some extent I might be able to come over the weather.
